12-year-old girl dies of burns

 In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old girl admitted for treatment for burns succumbed to the injuries on Friday.


The deceased has been identified as Sanjana, daughter of Thyagaraja, an employee of divisional railway workshop at Ashokapuram.


A resident of third cross, third main at Kanakadasa Nagar here, Sanjana on August 20 had sustained burns, when hot water spilled over her body. The incident occurred when the hot water container she was lifting from the stove, slipped from her hand.
Initially, she was rushed to a hospital nearby, from where she was referred to K R Hospital and then to a private hospital, where she died around 3.30 am.
Kuvempunagar police have registered a case.


Rain claims a life


Torrential rain that pounded Mysore city for hours on Thursday has claimed a life.
A goods auto driver who had suffered injuries in a road mishap due to rain, succumbed on Friday.


Nagaraju (50) of Jayanagar is the deceased, while the loader Narayan has escaped unhurt. K R Traffic police said the mishap occurred as the drivers of both the vehicles- auto and lorry couldn’t notice each other as the windscreen was blurred owing to rainfall.


As a result, the sugarcane laden lorry proceeding towards Bannari Amman Factory, rammed into the auto soon after the latter entered Mysore- Ooty road from J P Nagar link road. Nagaraju was admitted to a hospital, where he died later.
A case has been registered.
