A 12-year-old student was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police on the charge of stone throwing and was produced before a local court on Monday.

Police claimed that Faizan Bashir Sofi, 12, a class VI student of the Eidgah area in the old city was involved in stone pelting and burning of a police vehicle on August 20.
Sources said Sofi was arrested on Sunday at his home by the local police.

After hearing the case, the Court of Sub-Registrar sent Faizan Bashir Sofi to 15-day police custody at Juvenile Home in Harwan.

Shockingly, the police have booked him under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 336 (setting ablaze public property) and 152 (war against state) Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), which is applicable only in J&K.
