SHGs called upon to achieve self-reliance

He was speaking after inaugurating the loan distribution programme under SGSY scheme for women self help groups at Doddagunjuru in Chintamani taluk.
The women should actively take part in programmes aimed at maintaining cleanliness, providing drinking water, health camps and others, he added.

Reddappa distributed cheques to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
The beneficiaries should utilise the amount in attaining economic freedom, expressed Reddappa who urged the beneficiaries to return the money so that others could avail the benefit.

Pragati Grameen Bank’s Manager Chand Hussain said that country would prosper if women attained education. Hence, girl education needs to be emphasised, he added.
Briefing the women about various facilities available in the bank, Hussain said that Doddagunjuru had distinction of being the village which had taken highest loan in the taluk.
Shailaja Narayanaswamy, Secretary of Heart Centre, an NGO, presided over the meet.
Reddappa, Chand Hussain and Shailaja Narayanaswamy were felicitated in the programme.
TP member Ajay Babu, Narayanamma, Muniyamma, Nalini others were present.
