Basur to be conservation reserve

The 1,800 acre area is rich in biodiversity including black bucks, Indian fox, jungle cat, cattle egret and black ibis among others. However, the animals and birds now face a major threat due to the increase in hunting. The Board decided in principle to approve declaring the area as conservation reserve as is provided under section 36(A) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, sources said.

The Board also decided to provide in-principle approval for expansion of by altering the limits and boundaries of the Anshi-Dandeli National Park.
