There was a lot of glitz and glamour at the ‘Max Miss Bangalore 2013’ beauty pageant, which was held recently in the City. There were 17 girls from across the City who took part in the event, where the who’s who of Bangalore was present.

The evening was made memorable with performances by a troupe called
Nritarutya. They gave a contemporary performance, which was appreciated by all. Finally, the stage was set for the competition and the judging panel comprised Vasanth Kumar, executive director of Max; fashion designer Aslam Khan; fashion photographer Manoj Masand; dermatologist Dr Chaitra and model-turned-actor Rahul Dev. On the whole, the girls were judged in three rounds –– introduction, model material and question rounds.

This was also followed by a fashion show choreographed by MS Sreedhar. The pageant also did its bit for society — Dream Merchant’s director Feroz Khan handed over a cheque to Swati Srivastava, assistant general manager of ‘Nanhi Kali’, a project that focuses on educating the girl child.

After all the rounds, the title of ‘Max Miss Bangalore 2013’ was given to Veena Singh, a final-year BCom student of MS Ramaiah College. She won the pageant along with the title of ‘Miss Figure’. An ecstatic Veena said, “It was an overwhelming feeling. But I feel that more than anything, it was a learning process for me. And now, I want to focus on my modelling career and maybe even attend ‘Miss India’.”

Vidyashree, a student of MS Ramaiah College of Law, bagged the title of first runner-up. She said, “I found this pageant to be a great platform to get a break in the industry.” While Sanya Haseeb, a student of Atria College, was crowned the second runner-up along with ‘Miss Catwalk’ and ‘Miss Fashion Icon’. “I always wanted to get into modelling. At every step of this contest, we were groomed so well. Even if I hadn’t won, I would have gone back a winner as I would have learnt so many things,” added Sanya.

Niveditha was crowned ‘Miss Beautiful Eyes’, while Pavithra Ghorpade was announced ‘Miss Nanhi Kali’. Rashi Singh walked away with the title of ‘Miss Beautiful Skin’. The winner of the pageant further gets a chance to hit the ramp at ‘Bangalore Fashion Week’.
