The Other Backward Classes (OBC) wing of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) will convene Assembly constituency-wise conventions in the run-up to the elections in the State.
The party will soon chalk out a strategy to strengthen its vote base among the backward communities, said M C Venugopal, president of the OBC wing, here on Sunday.
Division-wise meetings of farmers, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, women and Muslims will be held in the coming months and he would tour the districts to assess the mood of the OBCs ahead of the polls.
He said the OBC wing had no direct role to play in shortlisting candidates, but, their financial status will give them an edge over other ticket aspirants.
