Ramamurthy Nagar police arrested two persons for allegedly trespassing into the vacant sites of some property owners, including the retired Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu D K Oza and his daughter at Banjara Layout at Kalkere off Hennur in the City.

Based on a complaint lodged by Oza, and 20 others on July 24 this year, Patalappa and Suresh Babu were arrested. According to the complainants, about 11 people had occupied their properties  on May 7 this year.

Police sources said one Ramaiah had sold the property to the present occupants through general power of attorney (GPA) some 15 years ago.

Recently, his son Patalappa started claiming rights over the land saying that the sale of the property was flawed and that his father had bequeathed him the same. The matter was pending before a civil court, the police said.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Oza said the Ramamurthy Nagar police had initially refused to receive their complaints saying that the matter appeared to be a civil dispute.

It was only after the intervention of the Bangalore Police Commissioner Jyothi Prakash Mirji that the police registered the case.
