Murder case solved: 2 held

Addressing a press meet here on Monday, SP Dr A S Rao said the arrested are Shamshad (28), wife of the deceased and Venkatesh (32), a resident of Capitanio.  He said Karim was a fruit seller near Fr Muller hospital in Kankanady and was also involved in finance business with the help of others. Moreover, he had borrowed loan from several persons and did not repay. At the same time, he was having an illegitimate affairs with several women and was using them for illegal purpose. Enraged over his behaviour, his wife decided to eliminate him with the help of Venkatesh, a neighbour.  SP said Karim and Venkatesh were having quarrel over financial matters very often.

On the fateful day, Venkatesh had told everyone in the flat that he is going to Mysore for a week. However, he was in staying in a lodge in Mangalore. On September 12, Shamshad called Venkatesh over phone and discussed the murder plan.
On the same night, after Karim went for sleep, she called Venkatesh who came in two wheeler and executed the plan. After the murder, he locked the bedroom where Shamshad was sleeping and left from balcony to give an impression that accused had come via balcony.  Later, he went to Mysore.

In fact, Shamshad tried to mislead the police during the investigation. Venkatesh was arrested on September 27. During the interrogation, he revealed his role in the murder.  Wooden logs, mobile phones and two wheeler have been seized.  
SP also distributed a cash prize of Rs 15,000 to the team which solved the murder case.
