<p> Condemning the Supreme Court’s order to release Cauvery water from KRS reservoir as unscientific, members of Raitha Sangha staged a rasta roko on the Bangalore-Mysore highway near Gejjalagere in the taluk on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The farmers, who raised slogans against the decision, blocked the highway for more than half an hour — bringing the traffic to a screeching halt. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both the sides of the road, disrupting vehicular traffic.<br /><br />Ryot leader Sunanda Jayaram said farmers in Mandya district are suffering due to severe drought and there is no sufficient water in the KRS dam.<br /><br />The Supreme Court’s unscientific decision has upset the residents of the district and has added fuel to the fire.<br /><br />All leaders, cutting across party lines, should join the protest against the Supreme Court’s decision, she said.<br /><br />Sangha taluk president Vishwanath, farmer leaders Kuduragundi Nagaraju, Chandru, Eshwarappa and others led the stir where hundreds of villagers participated in the protest.<br /></p>
