Difficult for allies to remain in UPA: BJP

Last Updated 16 September 2012, 20:07 IST

The BJP on Sunday said it was difficult for the UPA allies to stay with Congress which had lost the confidence of the people as it was not only a corrupt regime but also anti-people.

Party leader Balbir Punj said: “UPA 2 has lost the confidence of ‘aam admi’, the man on the street because of its corrupt and anti-people policies. It does not have virtually any dialogue with the opposition parties.

Its isolation is complete because its own allies cannot live up with its arrogance and anti-people policies”. Punj said he was “not surprised” that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has “decided to withdraw the support. This was predictable and under the circumstances Manmohan Singh must resign immediately,” he remarked.

BJP’s remarks came after the TMC gave the government a 72-hour deadline on Friday to roll back its decision on FDI in multi-brand retail, hike in diesel price and a cap on the number of subsidised LPG cylinders.
