For an eco-friendly society

The NSS unit of SRN Adarsh College, Chamarajpet had organised a programme recently for creating environmental awareness at  K S Narasimha Swamy Park, Katriguppe. Mayor D Venkatesha Murthy was the chief guest on the occasion.

He advised the students to ensure that they do not use plastic. He said during the forthcoming Ganesha festival, they must see to it that only eco-friendly idols of the gods are used.

L Ravisubramanya, MLA, who was the guest of honour, said that if every household segregated the garbage and disposed it scientifically, Bangalore would certainly become a cleaner city. He told the students that they must be pioneers in building an eco-friendly society.

Special invitees on this occasion were B V Ganesh, corporator, Chamarajpet, and Lalitha, corporator, Girinagar. Premraj V Jain, president, Adarsh group of institutions presided over the proceedings. The dignitaries then planted some saplings in the park. The NSS students walked down to Vivekananda Park and cleaned the premises by getting rid of  plastics and other waste matter.

The NSS unit of the college has been functioning actively and has successfully conducted many programmes like blood donation camp, under the guidance of Jitendra Mardia, secretary, Adarsh group of institutions; principal Bharatisha Rao and NSS officer K Veena.
