Two bikers snatch former mayor's purse

Two motorcyle-borne assailants snatched away Congress leader and former mayor Anita Babbar’s purse in high-security  Chanakyapuri when she was travelling in an autorickshaw  on Tuesday.

Babbar, 47, told police that on Tuesday around 2:30 pm, she took an autorickshaw from Nizamuddin railway station for her home in Tilak Nagar in west Delhi.

“I had kept my purse on right side of the autorickshaw. Around 3 pm, I reached Sardar Patel Road, opposite Maurya Hotel, at Chanakyapuri when suddenly I realised that my bag was missing,” Babbar said in a complaint to police.

She added that the bag contained her mobile phone, Rs 4,000 in cash, and debit and credit cards of various banks.

The auto driver told her that   two motorcycle-borne assailants came from behind, snatched her bag and fled towards Dhaula Kuan.

“We have registered a casebut so far, no arrest has been made,” said a police officer.
