Two men were arrested for allegedly duping a retired Food Corporation of India officer on the pretext of providing jobs to his sons in Airports Authority of India and Delhi Development Authority over a payment of Rs 5 lakh, police said on Sunday.

Jitender Singh and Nitesh Kumar, who hail from Uttar Pradesh, were held on Saturday over a complaint by Jai Kishan, a Anand Parbat resident.

“He alleged that Jitender had met his younger son Rohit at Mahipalpur earlier this year, and claimed that he could help him get a government job at Indira Gandhi International Airport through ministry quota,” a senior police official said.

Jitender claimed that he had placed several people through his contacts.

He made Nitesh speak to Rohit as an airport employee.

They further made Rohit and Kishan meet one of their accomplice, Puneet, on the pretext that he would help in providing the job as he was a senior official in the airport.

“Puneet assured Jai that he would get Rohit employed as a supervisor in the AAI on a payment of Rs 3 lakh, while his elder son Hitesh could be placed with DDA for Rs 2 lakh,” the official added.

Kishan agreed to the deal and subsequently paid the money in several installments. Later, Nitesh and Jitender told Rohit and Hitesh to get their medical examination done.

Accordingly, Puneet gave an AAI appointment letter to Rohit on June 21 and his posting slip on July 7.

On 20 July, Puneet met Hitesh at DDA office in INA and gave him his appointment letter.
He was further asked to meet Puneet at Paschim Vihar Metro station on July 27 where he was given his posting slip.

However, when Rohit and Hitesh went to verify the documents with officials at AAI and DDA, it was  found that they were fake.

“They realised that they had been duped and went to Mahipalpur where they had first met Jitender and Nitesh,” the official said.

They finally saw Jitender and Nitesh sitting at a park in Mahipalpur on Saturday and overpowered them.

They were handed over to IGI police station and a case of cheating was registered over Kishan’s statement. “We are trying to nab their associates,” the official added.
