As a model, Chitrangada never walked the ramp

Before turning to the silver screen, Chitrangada Singh never walked the ramp despite being a model as she was not tall enough.

"I am happy that as a package of being an actor I also get to do different things. I never walked the ramp earlier because I was not tall enough," Chitrangada said after setting the ramp on fire in a sizzling gold and black evening wear by designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour here.

After working in advertisements and music videos, the 36-year-old wife of Indian golfer Jyoti Randhawa had impressed everybody with her debut role in Sudhir Mishra's 2005 film 'Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi'.

While at the backstage of the fashion show, Chitrangada said she felt out of place.
"Now I have done enough of catwalks but yet I am nervous everytime I set my foot on the ramp," she said.

Based on the issue of gender politics, Chitrangada would soon be shooting for another Sudhir Mishra film 'Inkaar' where she is cast opposite Arjun Rampal.

"It is a film about sexual harassment. It shows that proving rape is easier than proving sexual harassment," she said.

The dusky actress would also be seen in a romantic film 'I, Me, aur Main' with John Abraham.

For now she is disappointed that the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Joker', where she had an item number 'Kaafirana', bombed at the box office.

"The film's fate is disappointing but I am happy that people liked me in an item song," Chitrangada said adding she is open to doing item numbers.
