Two houses burgled

A retired HAL employee, Murthy is the resident of Canara Bank Colony. According to the complaint, the thieves broke open the window of his house to gain entry and made away with the valuables.

In another incident, jewellery and cash were stolen from a house at Nanjappa Layout in Adugodi on Tuesday. Police said, Dhanalakshmi, the house owner, had gone to visit her daughter on Tuesday afternoon. Upon her return at 7.30 pm, she found that her house was broken into and cash and jewellery worth Rs 9,000 were missing.

Chains snatched
Two chain-snatching incidents were reported in Jayanagar on Tuesday evening.
In the first incident, two unidentified bikers snatched a 50 gram gold chain from Kamakshi, when she was going for a walk at 11th Cross, Jayanagar 7th Block (West).
In the other incident, an unidentified biker snatched a gold chain worth Rs 45,000 from Annapurna (42) at Jayanagar 8th Block, when she was returning from a relative’s house.

Man succumbs to burns
A man, who doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze, due to marital discord last Saturday, died here on Wednesday morning. Srinivas (28), a resident of  Nandini Layout, is the deceased. Police said that neighbours had rushed him to a hospital after the incident. The autopsy was conducted on Wednesday afternoon.

Gas cylinders recovered
Basaveshwarnagar police on Tuesday arrested a person and recovered 18 empty gas cylinders worth Rs 32,000.
Of these, 16 cylinders were stolen from a gas cylinder outlet in Basaveshwarnagar. Shivakumar (18), hailing from Koppal district and a resident of Sunkadkatte in the city, is the accused. Police said he had sold the gas cylinders to various hotels and bakeries in several areas.

Eight held for gambling
Cottonpet police on Monday arrested eight persons for gambling and recovered a set of cards, three cellphones and cash worth Rs 3,000 from them. Nagaraj (35), Annappa (40), Kant (27), Mahadev (35), Ishwar (26), Harish (21), Nataraj (26) and Kumar (25) were arrested.
