God has a plan for each of us. Though the past is over and the future is not yet in one’s hands, one does have a certain amount of control to make one have a slight say in the way one’s future will turn out.

Yet, one should not undermine the role of God’s guidance in one’s life and should acknowledge his unconditional love and concern that each one of our lives turns out in the optimally best way. This is because God would have one’s best welfare and well-being at heart and due to the very nature of his being infallible and perfect, would never want anything untoward to happen to anyone. The following story reveals what happens when one does not place one’s trust and unconditional love in the God who will not fail one, come what may.

There was a helicopter which was going to crash and there were two men who were planning to lower a rope and jump to earth. The first man clung to the rope and lowered himself. Since it was night, he didn’t know how far or close he was to land. God, who was overseeing this, whispered to the man, “Let go! I will take care of you!” But though the man was pious and God-fearing, he was also afraid, because to him clinging to the rope meant some sort of tangible safety compared to the unsure world below him.

God could see his sense of struggle and lack of trust, and again prompted, “Let go!” But the man was stubborn and held steadfastly to the rope which he now considered his lifeline. The next day, it was revealed the man who was clinging onto the rope was found dead, frozen by the frost bite of the previous cold night. The biggest surprise was that he was just a foot away from the ground! If he had listened to God, he would surely have been alive! That is how God functions. If one places one’s implicit trust, faith and hope in Him, one can rest assured that he will reciprocate and will not let one down.

God is one. Though the precepts, rituals and the method of praying vary from religion to religion, they are different paths to reach Him. If one uses one’s path to pray and converse to God, he will respond and reciprocate, for he is perhaps the only being who has one’s intrinsic welfare and unconditional love at heart and will never do anything out of sync with kindness and humanism. He can turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, and a victim into a victory.
