<p>New railway minister C P Joshi on Tuesday assured a Congress delegation that change of hands in the ministry will not anyway affect rail projects in West Bengal.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“All these projects are projects of UPA government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and will be implemented,” said a Congress delegation led by former minister of West Bengal Manas Bhunia. <br /><br />The delegation met him in Rail Bhavan. The six-member Congress delegation led by Bhunia apprised Joshi of the politics in West Bengal and submitted a memorandum that asks for assurance on the continuation of rail projects announced for West Bengal by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her successors in the ministry.<br /><br />The delegation informed him that there is a strong campaign going on in the state that all rail projects announced in the last three years will be abandoned due to change of railway minister.<br /><br />“The minister assured us that all rail projects announced with financial approval would be completed in time because these are UPA projects,” Bhunia said after the meeting.<br /><br />About 17 projects at estimated cost of Rs 40,000 crore were announced for the state by successive Trinamool Congress ministers including Mamata Banerje, Dinesh Trivedi and Mukul Roy.<br /><br /></p>
