Former Prime Minister H D Devegowda on Thursday charged the BJP government in Karnataka with preparing to sanction absolute sale deed to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) promoted Bangalore-Mysore Express Highway project.

"If the government completes the process of issuing sale deed for 20,193 acres, it will lead to allowing NICE the rights to sale and re-sale of transfer of lands," Gowda, who has been opposing the project, said.

He demanded that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa immediately convened a special session, as promised by him, to have a debate on 'scams' involving the project.

If the government failed to concede to his demand he would launch an agitation,Gowda said and cautioned officials against passing illegal orders "under pressure from the government."

"Even as Yeddyurappa keeps assuring that he will facilitate discussions on the BMIC project, he has cleared the proposal to issue sale deed, calling into question the honesty of this government", Gowda charged.
