Amid tight security, President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here on Wednesday evening on a three-day visit to the Kashmir Valley.
Official sources said the President was received by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad, state ministers, top officers of civil, police and the Army at the airport here.
On Thursday, the President is scheduled to attend the 18th Annual Convocation at Kashmir University (KU). The previous convocation was held in June 2009 with Vice-President Hamid Ansari in attendance.
