<p>A fast track court in the town has awarded ‘jail till death’ to a man who poisoned his one and half year old son to death last year.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Ravi alias Battery Ravi, a resident of Saraswathipuram slum in Hunsur, was charged with killing his son, Nishore on June 16, 2011.<br /><br />After a 15-month trial, the fast court convicted Ravi of the offence and sentenced him to ‘jail till death.’ The evidence of a six-year-old boy helped adjudication of the case. <br /><br />Ravi was married to Sumitra and the latter had been to her parents’ house after a fight between the couple. He refused to admit Nishore as his son.<br /><br />No capital punishment<br /><br />“You could have been awarded capital punishment. But that means you will die at one go. But you should experience the agony that the child suffered while dying.<br /><br /> Hence I am awarding jail till death,” the judge said while pronouncing the sentence. <br /><br />The court said the convict cannot appeal before the President for reducing the term of imprisonment.</p>
