Two bikers among three killed in mishaps

Three persons were killed and three injured in road accidents in Wednesday and early Thursday, police said.

A motorcyclist was crushed to death under a truck which overturned at Dwarka sector-22 in south-west Delhi a little past Wednesday midnight. 

The victim has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Suraj Vihar in Kakrola.
Three labourers travelling in the truck carrying sand also sustained minor injuries.
The driver fled from the spot.

“We received a call at the police control room reporting that a truck overturned near Janki Chowk. It was also informed that a motorcyclist was stuck under the rubble,” an official said.

Personnel from Dwarka sector-23 police station and Dwarka sector-6 fire station immediately launched a rescue operation.

“Sandeep’s head was crushed despite his helmet and he died on the spot. He was identified with the help of his driving licence,” the official added.  

His body was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and handed over to the family after a post-mortem.

The injured labourers, Mahesh, Gulab Das and Madhuram, are from Bihar’s Samastipur district.

“They were discharged after first aid. They were not aware of the identity of the truck driver,” the official said.

A case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence has been registered with Dwarka sector-23 police station.

Truck mows down man

A 32-year-old man was killed and another injured when a speeding truck rammed into them while they were changing their tempo’s punctured tyre at Sunlight Colony in south-east Delhi. 

The victim, identified as Atawaris, a resident of LNJP Colony, was travelling with 35-year-old Rahisuddin when the mishap took place near Millennium Park bus depot at 2.45 pm on Thursday.

The driver sped off.

Both suffered critical injuries and were rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre.

“Doctors declared Atawaris brought dead. Rahisuddin is undergoing treatment and was unfit for statement,” the official added.

Car-bike collision

A 26-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle and a car collided head-on in Delhi Cantonment area of south-west Delhi on Wednesday.

Dharmender Kumar Chauhan of Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district was returning home from work around 9.45 pm.

“When Dharmender reached Prahladpur bus stand, a Maruti Swift Dzire car coming from the wrong side rammed into his vehicle head-on,” a police official said.

He was rushed to Divya Prastha Hospital in Palam Colony, but was declared brought dead on arrival.

Driver Shagun Sadh, a resident of Mandakini Apartments in Dwarka sector-2, has been arrested.
