In view of the upcoming Assembly elections, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara spoke to a group of progressive thinkers to know their expectations of the party.

Speaking to writers Chandrashekara Kambara, Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Marulasiddappa, actor Jayamala and Prof Radhakrishna in the City on Sunday, he said the party would work on its policies based on their suggestions.

The writers, in addition to highlighting the shortcomings of the party, urged the Congress to deal with the issues of corruption, maladministration and injustices against dalits seriously.

Taking a clear stand on FDI in multi-brand retail and encouraging leadership among backward classes, minorities, SCs and STs were other topics discussed at the meeting.
“The suggestions of writers and intellectuals gathered from across the State will be brought to the party high command’s notice, shortly,” Parameshwara said. Similar meetings will be held in Mysore and Hubli soon, he added.

When asked to comment on C M Ibrahim’s meeting with B S Yeddyurappa recently, the KPCC chief asked them to pose the question to the leader and not him. On Yeddyurappa joining the Congress, he said there was no such proposal.
