Amateur golf from today

 
The amateur event will have 270 golfers -- 90 teams of three players each -- vie for top honours with the top five finishers getting a chance to represent India at the 15th World Golfer’s Championship to be held in Marbella, Spain from October 23-28 and a seven day holiday on the Golden Chariot luxury train.

The Open event will be held in five handicap categories -- 0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25.

Each player on the team plays one round on his individual score and the three scores are added to make up the team score.

Besides players from Eagleton, the meet will have golfers from other Bangalore clubs, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore,Coorg and Pune.

Syed Kirmani, Gundappa Viswanath, Sujith Somasunder and Prakash Padukone will inaugurate the event.
