Developing a strong channel presence and reaching more small and medium businesses is one of the key strategies of SAP in the next few years, the company recently said.

As a way of reaching out to one billion people before 2015, the company would keep analytics and in-memory computing as key pieces of its technology that would add value to businesses across the world.

“Across the globe, we are hoping to grow channel business from 25 to 40 per cent,” SAP’s Senior Vice-President for business solution Tom Kindermans said .

“Channel partners are important for us to reach out to SMBs and help them use our key technology tools to add value to their businesses. Channel business in India is matured and we’re looking ways to improve it,” he added, pointing out that SAP’s channel business worldwide is growing rapidly despite the company doing 70 per cent direct sales. He said analytics will be a key technology for SAP to reach its stated target of becoming a 20 billion-euro company by 2015, with 35 per cent margin and touch one billion people.
