Sites for poor rock TP meet

A heated discussion was held with regard to providing sites to poor, at Taluk panchayat.

Standing Committee President J G Nagraj who raised the issue in the meet said that from 2001 till date, not even a single site has been allotted to the poor. The issue is limited to discussion alone. However, no action has been initiated so far.

Responding to the issue, Tasildhar G Krishnamurthy said that there is a shortage of revenue land, to be distributed among the poor. The land that has been identified to be distributed among the poor, belongs to the forest department.

Deputy Commissioner suggested that private land has to be purchased and distributed among the poor. A sum of Rs three lakh  per acre will be paid for the purchase of land.
The issue has to be solved by the revenue and forest department, said J G Nagraj.

There is a lack of coordination between Village Accountants and Revenue Inspector in the taluk office, said Krishika Samaja President Nilesh.

It was decided to take action against officers who do not respond to people's problems in the meet.

It was pointed out that some electric contractors are charging money from Gangakalyana beneficiaries. There is a need to take action agaisnt them, demanded Nilesh.

The Hegri Kere water passage in Nagalapura Gram Panchayat premises has been blocked with cement. Some of the Anganawadi workers do not report to work in time. Nilesh said that the names of such workers has to be noted down.

An official said that attention has been paid with regard to cleanliess in BCM Hostel. J G Nagraj said that students do not report to hostel in time and use cell phones excessively.
The official said that the students have to be directed not to use mobile phones and disciplinary action has to be taken against students who do not follow rules.The meeting was presided by Taluk Panchayat President Prema.
