A farmer ended his life in Shirasagi village of Sindhagi taluk on Saturday night.
Nagappa Hanumanth Vaddar, 34, ended his life by consuming pesticide. He is said to have taken the extreme step after being unable to repay the farm loans.
The cotton crop cultivated in his fields have been affected by disease.
Nagappa was shifted to the Government Hospital in Bijapur, where he died. He had taken a loan of Rs 31,000 from the Bagaluru Co-operative Society and some private loans too.
A case has been registered at the Sindhagi police station.
