VCK demands dismissal of Karna govt

Last Updated 16 October 2012, 06:52 IST

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol Tirumavalavan today demanded that the Centre dismiss Karnataka Government for 'violating' the orders of Supreme Court and Cauvery River Authority to release water to Tamil Nadu.

The Centre should invoke Article 356 of the Constitution and dismiss the Karnataka Government since it had not obeyed the order of the apex court and the CRA headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directing release of 9,000 cusecs of water, he told reporters here.

DMK President M Karunanidhi has last week urged Prime Minister to dismiss the BJP Government in Karnataka.

Tirumavalavan said he and his party workers would participate in the October 28 picketing of Tamil Nadu Assembly premises by anti-nuclear activists agitating against Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.
