The Bengaluru Midnight Marathon, into its sixth edition, will be run on December 15 at the KTPO, Whitefield.
The theme for this year’s marathon will be ‘Run For Bengaluru’ which was unveiled by its brand ambassadors, model and celebrity runner Milind Soman and Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Estelle Faria, here on Wednesday.
“I was a swimmer and I represented the national team. So fitness comes natural to me. But running is different, it’s about pushing your body’s limits. Running brings a balance to your life. I hope all of you will come and participate in this unique midnight marathon,” Milind said at the press meet to announce the event.
This year there will be seven categories: marathon (42.195 kms), half-marathon (21.95 kms), Adecco IT City fun run (5 kms), community relay (5x1 km each), Target 10K run (10 kms), women’s relay cup (8x5 kms) and corporate relay cup (8x5 kms).
More than 10,000 runners are expected to take part in the meet, organised by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC).
“The 10K has transformed distance running. It has attracted lot of people. It’s good for the beginners,” pointed out Gul Mohamed Akbar, the race director for BMM.
The winners in the marathon and half-marathon races will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively. Interested can register their names online by logging onto www.midnightmarathon.in.
