Cabinet meet in Gulbarga today

The State Cabinet is scheduled to meet in Gulbarga on Thursday, the fourth such meeting by the present government. The agenda for the meeting comprises issues specific to North Karnataka districts.

The meeting, to be held at the mini Vidhana Soudha, is expected to consider including Gulbarga’s MMK College of Visual Arts, Lalithkala College in Gadag and Fine Arts College in Bangalore in the grant-in-aid scheme.

There are proposals to sanction approval for opening medical colleges in Kodagu, Tumkur, Chamarajnagar, Koppal, Gadag and Haveri districts, in the next academic year. The Cabinet will also consider the proposal by Tumkur University to establish a research centre on humanities.

When it comes to Gulbarga, the Cabinet has special proposals for attracting investments in industrial sector and improving infrastructure facilities. The Cabinet is likely to give its nod to set up a food craft institute on five acres in Badepur village, Gulbarga.

The meeting may also decide to lease out 23.3 acres of government land to Gulbarga University to establish a research centre on food, energy and water safety issues at Malkhed of Sedam taluk. It is likely to approve 300 additional posts for district hospital in Gulbarga.
