All of a sudden, reports of many mainstream actresses taking to item numbers have started making the rounds.
In fact, even Ramya Barna’s name was included in the list — claims were made that she was dancing to a number in the Darshan-starrer Bul Bul. But the actress denies it completely. “I am doing a guest appearance in the movie but not a song. I want to make it clear — there have been several things said about this and I have to keep giving clarifications,” she adds.
But being a mainstream actress, is she okay with such little screen space? “I have no issues. I have always wanted to work with Darshan and now, I am getting that opportunity. It might be a guest appearance but the character’s impact will be enough for
me. I don’t believe that only lead roles are noticed in a film. For that matter, Pancharangi had me playing a supporting character, which brought me a lot of appreciation. It is not about how long you are seen, it’s about the impact you create in that little space you are given — and it has worked in my case. I have always been a part of movies that make
me happy and that’s what I am doing,” she adds.
Ramya has carved a niche for herself with varied roles. After playing the leading lady in a couple of her films, like Anarkali and Ondu Rupayalli Eradu Preethi, Ramya will soon be a part of a thriller called ‘Notorious’.
The movie is something she is looking forward to as for the first time, the actress will be performing an action sequence.
“It’s an out-and-out fight sequence, in which I get to beat up guys who try to tease me. It was so much fun as I got to do something really different. We had to shoot
for it at night but through the day, I practised with the stunt master so that
I could get it perfect.
After the director shot for it, he kept teasing me that from now on, I will be offered only action-packed roles,” she laughs.
One will just have to wait and watch to find out whether that will turn out to be true.
