Cong softens stand on Gadkari

Last Updated 22 October 2012, 20:20 IST

Congress on Monday appeared to be going soft on Nitin Gadkari as the party said that it is for the government to proceed against BJP president in the wake allegations leveled against him first by anti-corruption leader Arvind Kejriwal followed by a TV channel.

“Taking one’s personal life and politicizing is not proper. This is not something that Congress does. If there is anything in the allegations than there are many government agencies to look into the matter,” said Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit while addressing the media here.

Dikshit’s comments came when his response was sought on a TV channel’s findings that a company which was favoured by Gadkari during his tenure as Maharashtra minister later gave him a loan of Rs 165 crore.
Earlier, Kejriwal had also attacked Gadkari.
