Last Updated 04 May 2018, 08:16 IST

Amid reports of Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna's resignation, US refrained from expressing its views on the resignation as this has not been formally announced, the State Department said.

"We've seen the press reports that he's offered to resign. To my understanding, there are still ongoing discussions inside India, so we'll withhold comment until there are decisions," Victoria Nuland, the State Department spokesperson said during a conference yesterday.

Nuland was responding to a question on the reports of resignation of Krishna, over in the Obama Administration he had developed a personal relationship with the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Both Clinton and Krishna were instrumental in the launch of the annual India-US Strategic Dialogue. Krishna made several trips to US, the last one being in September this year to attend the General Assembly of the US, during which he met Clinton.
