The world famous Dasara festival has concluded, but aqua sports —a part of the festivities — still remains to cater to adventure enthusiasts. The sports activity being held at Varuna lake on T Narsipura road, as a part of Dasara adventure sports, has been extended till October 29 to facilitate more people to experience the thrill.

Aqua sports that gained popularity with huge turn out was earlier planned till October 22. Overwhelmed by the response, Dasara Adventure Sports Sub-committee has decided to continued with the activity for a few more days.

However, the terrestrial adventure sports has concluded on October 22 itself.
Adventure amateurs can gear up their lazy weekend partaking in five thrilling water activities at the lake on the outskirts of Mysore.

Jet skiing is priced at Rs 200, while kayaking and paddle boat cost Rs 40, Banana ride and speed boat are priced Rs 100.

Jet skiing has received the highest response, followed by banana ride, speed boat, kayaking and paddle boat.

Among 52 experts, who were in the city from General Thimmaiah National Academy for Adventure Sports (GETNA), 22 have returned as terrestrial activities have concluded on October 22 itself.

The rest are assisting the people to enjoy their water rides safely. Speaking to Deccan Herald, chief coordinator of GETNA M R Manjunath said: “Though the response has dipped after Vijayadashami, people are expected to flock during the weekend and the last day.”

Though there were only local people in good numbers initially, the event drew tourists on par with them in the later days.

The rates have been constant since four years to enable more people, Manjunath adds.
He said, the activities here are only for fun as a part of Dasara, while the academy conducts more activities regarding terrestrial and water adventure, nature awareness and others.
