Large screens with searing racing action kept Formula One fans rivetted to their seats as another evening of sporting fellowship was organised to mark the event recently. Emcee Abbas was his usual ebullient self as he conducted pop quizzes and gave away loads of goodies to the lucky winners. There was plenty of beer, wine and munchies doing the rounds as people settled in comfortably to watch their favourite racers vie for the ultimate prize.

With the Indian racing colours flying high in the course of the season, the enthusiasm levels were definitely up as several people kept coming in to watch the action and guess the winner. As expected the favourite for the race among most sports enthusiasts, Lewis Hamilton won the Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix for McLaren-Mercedes and amid loud cheers, the lucky draw was held.

“This is the toughest race of the season and it was great to watch the action played out on the giant screens here amidst all the cheering and excitement instead of watching it at home,” said Vishal, one of the fans. “It’s a fabulous track, and with the 24-year-old World Champion claiming his second win of 2009 in front of a  80,000 strong Singapore crowd, it’s a dream sporting event for racing car and speed buffs,” he  added.
