Remo Fernandes recently gave the City’s music lovers an unforgettable night of melodies.

The open-air courtyard of Phoenix Marketcity was buzzing with excitement recently, as the music lovers of the City showed up to watch the Goan singing delight Remo Fernandes and his band, The Microwave Papadums collaborate with Bangalore-based rock band Aurko in the recent ‘Alive India in Concert’ evening.

Hundreds of people showed up to hear Remo’s popular songs like Oh Mere Munni, Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, ‘The Flute Song’, his rendition of a Rolling Stones’ classic
‘Satisfaction’ and many others.

One thing was certain — his stage presence was overwhelming and he really knew how to keep the crowd going.

And what really drew people to him was his constant interaction between and
during songs, saying things like how he would love to have a bungalow in Bangalore and how, in his college days, he’d bunk classes to play his guitar.

Bernard, who was seen jumping in the crowd, shares, “I’ve always been a fan of his and being from Goa, it makes me really happy to listen to songs that remind me of home. It is great to see the crowd grooving to his music.”

He also performed a new song, which he recorded for India’s first youth football championship called ‘Stand Up for Passion’ — a fast-paced song with a carnival feel to it. There was a short jugalbandi with the tabla player, which was very well received.
But the highlight of the evening was definitely his Baila number, Maria Pita Che.

Within a second of the song starting, the crowd jumped to its feet and started dancing. Remo even showed them a few Baila steps and altogether, the experience was like a big happy Goan wedding.

He concluded his set with his hit song, Jalwa.Sreeja, a member of the audience, says, “I’m so happy I came for the concert!

I got to dance to my favourite songs, which I used to listen to when I was a kid. I hope Remo keeps coming back to play here.”
