Congress Sevadal Karnataka in-charge Dr Pramod Kumar Pandey gave a call to the Congress Sevadal workers to get ready to face the Karnataka Assembly election which may happen any time soon.

Addressing the Sevadal workers at the booth-level convention of Sevadal organised by Dakshina Kannada Zilla Congress Sevadal at Town Hall on Tuesday, he made it clear that the objective of the Sevadal convention and strengthening the Sevadal units was to get prepared for the fast-approaching election. “The Assembly election in Karnataka is due in April, but it can happen any time soon. May be next week or in December or in April. You should be prepared to face it at any time,” he insisted the gathering.

Criticising the BJP government for its poor administration, he asked the Sevadal workers to ensure that the BJP will not come to power in the election. “Now it is the time you should come out of your houses and fight to win the poll.” Pandey said that the decision to organise Sevadal booth-level conventions was taken at a meeting organised at Belgaum recently. As a first step, the convention is organised in Mangalore to unite the Sevadal workers, he said.

AICC Secretary and South India Sevadal in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake said that one representative each from 1500 Sevadal booths in the district was selected to participate in the convention, who will again undergo training for three-days in a near future. About 54,000 such representatives will be selected state-wide and will be deployed to serve the party and the State, he said.

Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary who was present at the convention, made a witty remark to the Sevadal workers as he said, “wearing Gandhi ‘topi’ would not make one a Gandhi. If you register yourself in Sevadal and wear topi, but involve in corrupt practices, it would not raise your standards.

The Sevadal workers should work selflessly with all dedication. At a juncture, when the people have negative attitude towards those who wear ‘topis’ (politicians), it is important to retain the respect by working towards the real objective of Sevadal,” he suggested. District Congress Committee President Ramanath Rai, MLA U T khader  were present.
