Movie lovers in the City can look forward to the ultimate cinema experience, since PVR recently launched the first IMAX theatre at Forum Mall in Koramangala.

The theatre was launched with the James Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ and will soon screen various other Hollywood movies, like ‘Life of Pi’ — which will hit the screens this year — ‘Oblivion’, starring Tom Cruise and ‘The Oz’.

The first Bollywood movie that Bangaloreans will get to experience at the IMAX
theatre is Dhoom 3.

Another such theatre will be opened in the City sometime next year.
“We want to give the audience in Bangalore the best movie-viewing experience, so that they come back to IMAX whenever they want to watch a movie.

It is a different experience altogether and the images are almost life-like — which makes you a part of the action. The picture and sound quality are very high and the aspect ratio is 26 per cent more than normal, which immerses you in the vast images of the film,” explains Don Savant, senior vice president and managing director of IMAX, Asia Pacific.

He adds that the country is a strategic market for IMAX and they plan to continue
expanding the number of such theatres all over the country.

“By next year, we will open ten new theatres all over India and will also showcase many more Bollywood movies. Some of the movies that we will be screening
are made specially for the IMAX theatres, they are shot by the special cameras which giver very high pixel quality.

They are converted the IMAX format, so as to give a great movie experience to those who visit the theatres,” says Don. The interiors of the theatre have been done up with blue carpets, cushy seats and wall panels, which add to the overall experience.

“We are happy that we have been able to provide the first IMAX theatre in the City and hope that Bangaloreans enjoy these movies. We wanted to launch the theatre with a Bond movie. Today, people want much more from the movies they watch — and
this will provide the best,” informs Pramod Arora, the group president of PVR Ltd.
