Goons thrash 2 brothers, fire in air

Two brothers were thrashed by three to four persons outside their house at Okhla in south-east Delhi on Thursday night after the duo protested against slightly denting their car.

The assailants also fired two rounds in the air before fleeing, said a police officer. The elder brother, Khan Babar Saeed, 32, a mechanical engineer, said he was at an ATM in Okhla Vihar around 11:30 pm when his younger brother, Khan Moid Hasan, called him to say that one of his neighbours had slightly brushed past his parked car. When Hasan objected to this, they started abusing him.

Saeed then went to the house of the neighbour, Mohammad Naeem, to inquire about the incident, over which Naeem started abusing him. Naeem’s brother then called three of his friends who lives nearby. All of them then started abusing and assaulting Saeed and Hasan.

“They hit us with baton and we fell to the ground. When people in the neighbourhood came to help, they fired two rounds in the air to disperse the crowd. We managed to get inside the house crawling,” said Saeed.

A police control room van arrived after a few minutes and took the brothers to AIPolice found the two spent bullets near the victims’ house, and have also registered a case under the Arms Act. “A hunt is on to nab the absconding accused,” said the officer.
