The Kamakshipalya police registered a case against an assistant sub-inspector of police for allegedly giving ‘third degree treatment’ to a minor.
“The victim lodged a complaint against Kamakshipalya police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Thimmegowda and we registered a case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code,” Deputy Commissoner of Police (West) S N Siddaramappa said.
The police will investigate the matter and take suitable action if the Assistant Sub-Inspector is found guilty, the DCP added.
Thimmegowda allegedly took Manjunath (name changed), 16, into custody on November 7 and injured his private organ to make him divulge details of a theft of ornaments at a house, it is said.
He dropped the boy at his house the next day after he fell ill.
The family members admitted him to a private hospital, where the teenager is
recovering.
Protest
Activists of some organisations and family members of the boy staged a protest in front of the Kamakshipalya police station on Friday demanding action against ASI Thimmegowda.
