Nimhans authorities have submitted a detailed medical report which throws light on the mental status of Buela M Sam, the Ahmedabad-based woman who breached security at the guesthouse and headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and was arrested subsequently.

“We received a detailed report on her mental status in a sealed cover. The police submitted the sealed cover to the court,” DCP (East Division) Krishna Bhat told Deccan Herald.

According to sources, the police were shocked to see the contents as the report stated that Buela was completely stable and was not mentally challenged as claimed by the police. They did not suspect any foulplay in the entire incident of the woman trespassing on the high-security zone of Isro, sources said.

Buela, 42, who reportedly was suffering from grandiose delusional disorder, posed as a senior scientist, produced a fake identity card and spent two nights at an Isro guesthouse in Bangalore.

She took the security personnel for a ride and entered the space agency’s headquarters on New BEL Road where a high-profile summit was scheduled on September 21. The police arrested her later and booked her under various Sections of the IPC.

Buela is married to Alex Thomas, a high school teacher in Ahmedabad. The couple have two children studying medicine.

The police contacted Alex after Buela made contradictory statements and he told the police she suffered from depression and would often go missing from home.
