He plays Arif Khan, an ATS officer and the character has been inspired by a real life hero, the late ATS chief Hemant Karkare. “It was Jimmy Shergill’s role in the original film Wednesday and I enjoyed playing a clever, unconventional cop in the movie. I underwent intense military training for the part and bulked up my muscles and developed a six pack,” he says.

What made this homegrown boy next door, who studied to become an electronics engineer, opt for the big bad world of glamour? “I did modelling in bits and pieces during my student days but my friends pushed me to enter the Gladrags Manhunt 2003. I won that and was placed among the top five finalists of the supermodel contest that was held in Istanbul-Turkey the same year. That’s when I got bitten by the glamour bug big time,” he laughs modestly. Since then it has been one big love affair with the camera for this hunk as offers came pouring in from all the big brand names in the ad industry. But what about acting skills?

“I moved to Mumbai and joined the Renaissance Theatre Group and also joined several acting workshops to develop my craft as an actor,” he explains. Fitness freak and extremely diet conscious he may be, but Ganesh is a foodie too. “I love experimenting with different cuisines and once a week allow myself to indulge in one slap up meal which is loaded with cheese and all the delicious stuff that tends to pack on the pounds.

Chocolates, the dark, rich variety are my undoing and if I were to have one last meal before the gallows, it would probably be chicken breast stuffed with cheese,” he says.
Ganesh uses a mixture of Wushu — a stylised form of martial arts and kick-boxing to keep in shape.

There is no special lady in his life right now but he is definitely looking out for Ms. Right who must come with a combination of good looks, intelligence, the X- factor and above all compatibility. “I do believe in arranged marriages, they worked well for my parents but I’m confident of finding her myself. I’m an incurable romantic. After all Paris is my favourite city in the world and Enrique Iglesias is my favourite singer,” he smiles.  While he loves dancing and going out clubbing with buddies he also enjoys watching movies with friends and reading. Not too hung up on gadgets and gizmos, he is inseparable from his laptop.
His style statement is as simple as the classic combo of white shirt and blue jeans occasionally teamed up with sleeveless jackets but comfort wins over fashion any day in his book, he declares.
