It is not possible to stop illegal transport of sand at once. But, the Department is taking various steps to check it, said Central Zone IGP Amar Kumar Pandey.

He was addressing a press conference at the office of district police superintendent on Friday. “Illegal sand mining is similar to any other theft cases. It has been continuing for quite some time.

The Department will give necessary help to Sand Monitoring Committee to check illegal sand mining. Vehicles used to transport sand illegally have been seized and cases have been registered against the owners, he said.

Loopholes

Speaking on the occasion, he said that, “I have been monitoring police stations at the district from Thursday and they are working properly. There are some loopholes need to be looked into. I have directed the officers concerned to set those problems right.”

“A proposal has been submitted to the Government to open five police stations as Kolar has been identified as sensitive district. Proposal includes new police stations at Narasapur, Sagatur and traffic Control office at Mulbagal,” he added.

CCTV camera

CCTV will be installed at six major junctions in the district. This will help identify people involved in crime. He also said that the Department was committed to provide basic facilities including quarters to the police personnel.

District Police Superintendent Ram Nivas Sepat, Additional SP H R Bhagawan Das were present on the occasion.
