A couple driving home from a weekend party at a pub were arrested by Electronics City Police after they allegedly assaulted two traffic cops who stopped them to check drunken driving, Saturday night.

The cops attached to Electronics City traffic police station were checking the vehicle drivers for drunken driving in front of the office of the Wipro Technologies.

After a breath analyser test, the cops found that Abhijeeth, who was driving a car was heavily drunk. They asked him to pay fine.

‘Inebriated’

Soon Abhijeeth and his wife Punti Munna, who was reportedly drunk got into an argument with the police claiming that the breath analyser was faulty.

A traffic constable began recording the quarrel when Punti rushed towards him and destroyed the camera while Abhijeeth assaulted Murthy and Shivananda, the police officials on duty.

The traffic police alerted the Electronics City Police who rushed to the spot and arrested the couple.

Medical test

They were subjected to a medical test at Bowring Hospital and produced before the jurisdictional magistrate Sunday morning. Punti was released on bail, while Abhijeeth was remanded in judicial custody.
