A seven-year-old boy died after he fell from the third-floor balcony of a four-storey building at Kurubarahalli on Tuesday.

The police said at around 1.30 pm, Manoj was playing on the balcony while his mother Savita was inside the house. Manoj was trying to peep through a small gap between the grills when he accidentally fell down.

On finding the boy’s body on the road, the neighbours rushed him to a private hospital. Chandrakala, a neighbour who took Manoj to the hospital, said the doctors there were unable to treat him and advised her to take him to KC General Hospital.

Manoj died on way to the second hospital. As he had landed straight on his head, there was little chance of survival. But the neighbours tried their best, the police said.

Manoj and his mother had come to their relative’s house at Kurubarahalli, in the Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits. The relative’s  family had just returned from Hassan, their native, and Savita had visited them to collect things they had brought for her.

Manoj’s  father Jagadish, an electrician, had gone to Chikkaballapur on some work when the incident occurred. Jagadish’s family lives at Ittamadu in Banashankari 3rd Stage. Manoj’s body has been kept at MS Ramaiah Medical College mortuary and will be handed over to the family after autopsy on Wednesday, the police said.
