Civil Defence pitches in for relief work



Civil Defence has rushed a team of 25 trained personnel to immediately start relief work at Badami. “The need of the hour is quick-response and our control rooms are co-coordinating the rescue work among various agencies,” added Maj Gen John. The statistics as collected from field officers of Fire Services and other agencies as on October 6  are as follows: People rescued (6,113); force deployed: National Disaster Relief Force, Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards, and Civil defence (1,938), relief camps (1,197), houses destroyed (1,23,439), livestock destroyed (3,039).

 Ashok Vajare, senior instructor from Home Guards is managing operations from Badami.
