30 killed as heavy rain lashes UP

At least 30 people, including women and children, were killed in incidents of collapse of houses and lightning as heavy rains lashed parts of Uttar Pradesh triggering floods in many areas, reports DHNS from Lucknow. A heavy discharge from Nepalese rivers into the Banbasa barrage in Lakhimpur Kheri district pushed the Sharda river above the danger mark inundating large tracts of land in the district, reports said here on Wednesday. Ghaghra and Rapti rivers have also been rising at Ayodhya, Baharaich and other places, reports said.

Meanwhile, at least 30 people have been reportedly killed in rain-related incidents like lightning and collapse of houses at many places in the state in the past two days.
