CM writes to Centre, states

In a letter to President Pratibha Patil, the Chief Minister sought her intervention to impress upon the Centre to immediately release Rs 10,000 crore for taking up relief works.
Thanking her for expressing concern over Karnataka’s plight Yeddyurapa said he would soon meet her to present a memorandum to release the funds under the National Calamity Relief Contigency Fund.

In his letter to Railway Minister Mamata Banerji, the CM requested exemption of freight charges for transportation of relief materials, as done in the past.

He said the State is expecting relief materials from all over the State and outside the State too. Free railway transportation of such materials would help the State, he added.
Yeddyurappa, in his letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, explained the extent of damage in the N-K districts and sought help in rehabilitating the victims. The CM has also written similar letters to the CMs of Punjab, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Nagaland, Orissa and Sikkim.

In a letter to BHEL Chairman & Managing Director B Prasada Rao, the CM has stated that the government is facing the mamoth task of building houses.

He requested Rao to build at least 2,000 houses, spending Rs 20 crore. A similar request has been made to Karnataka Small Scale Industries’ Association too.
