MLA assaults official

Last Updated 21 November 2012, 19:25 IST

MLA Veeranna Charantimatha allegedly assaulted a first division assistant (FDA) of the district department of public instruction, as the latter delayed forwarding the pension papers of a retired teacher to the head office.

The FDA, Mohammed Patel, told reporters that Charantimatha abused and assaulted him. However, the MLA dismissed the charges at a press conference. He said Patel had delayed sending the pension papers of the teacher, who retired as head master of the government school at Sutagundara in the taluk six months ago.

When told over phone by him to get the work done, the FDA spoke in an irresponsible manner, the MLA said.

District incharge Minister Govind Karjol told that Patel had been suspended.
