Beating the bleak placement scenario, thanks to global recession, three students from BITS Pilani have bagged jobs at Google with an annual package of $ 2,25,000 ( Rs 1.25 crore).

This is among the highest packages offered to Indian students this year.

Rushabh Agarwal from Mumbai, Kunal Lad from Nagpur and Nitin Gangahar from Renu Sagar in Uttar Pradesh will be posted at Google’s head office in Mountain View, California. They have been asked to join by October 2013.

The fifth year students are pursuing a dual degree (MSc Mathematics and BE in Computer Science) and will get their degrees by July 2013.

According to the institute’s public relations officer M Ishwara Bhat, they were hired during the campus placements in October. They had come to Google’s Bangalore office for the final selection round.

An elated Rushabh said: “The final rounds were purely technical and designed to test one’s knowledge of the subject.”

He, however, said almost all the students have an uniform grip over the subjects, but what matters is its application. The trio expressed a desire to donate some money to promote scientific temperament in the society, especially among the underprivileged children.

“The BITS exposure was phenomenal. I got an opportunity to do my internship in Canada.
Besides, my research fellowship from the Indian Academy of Science at IIT-Mumbai also helped me upgrade my skill,” said Kunal.
