Sri Rama Sene President Pramod Mutalik has challenged the State government to fulfill the demans of the Sene pertaining to Datta Peeta prior to Datta Jayanti.

Addressing media persons on Friday, he said that Datta Peeta should be a place exclusively worshipped by the Hindus.

The tombs (gori) should be shifted from the Peeta premises and Hindu priests should be appointed to perform pooja. Can the government fulfill all these demands, he questioned.

The State government should stop its double standard approach on Datta Peeta issue, he said.

He said “the Hindus are forced to offer prayers to a photograph of Dattatreya outside Datta Peeta, which is unfortunate. The State government which came to power using Datta Peeta as trump card, has failed to provide justice to the sentiments of the Hindus.”

“The Minister representing the district has been stating that crores worth development work have been taken up in Datta Peeta.

The Minister should furnish complete details on the utilisation of funds. Why the authorities have failed to develop road leading to Datta Peeta,” he asked.

Flaying the government for ‘cheating’ Hindus, he said “the government has released only Rs 50 lakh for the development, in contrast to Rs one crore which was announced in the budget.

The advocate representing the government has remained absent from the proceedings three times when Datta Peeta issue had come  up in the Supreme Court,” he said.
